Fast, professional, and couldn't me nicer. Very responsive in the weeks leading up to the move, always available by phone or email --my best moving experience yet in NYC. Would highly recommend! Also, they charged me LESS than their quoted price -- almost unheard of in pricey NYC moves.

I used Dorothy and Martha to move from Manhattan to Brooklyn about a month ago. It's the 3rd move I've made in the last 5 years and it was by far the smoothest. The movers called me before arriving, were extremely professional throughout the moving process and took very good care of all of my st ...Moreuff (nothing broken). After the move, I thought that I had lost something during the move (even though I simply misplaced it myself) and they were extremely responsive and helpful, even though it was not at all their issue. I would definitely use this company for my next move and they would be my first suggestion to anyone looking to move.
My guys were great! They arrived right at 8 a.m. and were done before 10. Professional, fast and even cheerful after lugging my junk up three flights of stairs. I would highly recommend this company!
I booked this company through a site called Unpakt for my move from Brooklyn to Manhattan. I lived in a 3rd floor walk up and moved to a 4th floor walk up so the two guys did a pretty good job carrying all my stuff down and up all those flights of stairs. The job took approximately 2 hours which ...More was fast (although they did arrive an hour later than I expected to my apartment). I just had a few minor problems. While the movers were bringing my vanity I have up the stairs one of the legs broke off. They said I could try adding wood glue to it but I've tried and there no way to repair it. The movers also forgot my mirror in the truck went they left so I called and he told me that they found it in the back of the truck and it was broken. They wrapped a blanket around it but I guess it wasn't properly placed where it couldn't break. They came back to the apartment and gave me back the tip I gave them and money to cover the mirror. I wasn't very upset since my new apartment already has a full-length mirror in the closet, I was just disappointed that these two things didn't make the trip. I contacted the company for a refund and they said they would mail me a check for it. Overall, it was an ok experience. Definitely had its ups and downs. For the future, I might consider a different moving company. If you're looking for the cheapest moving company with fast service, this may be the company for you.
Hi there, I am attaching the below letter I sent to Justin and Stacy at Dorothy + Martha Moving. Please - to all out there, researching moving companies - I would advise against. I have moved several times in NYC, and wanted to go local. Read mixed reviews on Thumbtack and Yelp, but decided to ...More go for it. Absolutely awful service. Full details below. As a side note, Justin and tacy have not yet resolved, and went ahead and charged our credit card before compensating and coming to an agreement. Hope this helps those researching. ------ Hi Justin, Wanted to let the dust settle before sending through this email. First and foremost, I must share that we were incredibly disappointed with the level of service with yesterday's move. Initially, in my correspondence with you, we outlined a time of 9-10 AM for starting the move. Your movers were out front at 7am. We drove back from out of town, so we needed this time in the morning to finish arranging boxes, last minute arranging for your movers, etc. By chance, we went downstairs to unload a few bags of trash, and saw Anthony. He said he'd been trying to call us, but had the wrong number. He also was there 2 hours early. We let them come up to start moving since they were there. He seemed a little annoyed that things were in various places, but as I explained to him, we had asked for 9-10. It was in the agreement he was holding in his hand. This is why I emailed and asked twice about confirmation of time and number of movers. From there, we asked if Anthony would be wrapping the credenza/TV stand. He told us it was difficult to move with blankets. In my email with Stacy, I explicitly asked about this. It's standard, we've moved before and had pieces wrapped and covered. Candidly, we didn't worry - Art Handlers is in the title of your business. When we went downstairs; we saw they had rested the credenza on its side along the stair at the 2nd flight. When we saw Anthony and Elio move onto the truck, the entire side was scratched. When asking and expressing concern, Anthony argued that it was that way. This is a 1K piece of furniture - it was NOT that way and we witnessed how they moved it! That is when we first called you, and when we started growing incredibly concerned which was only 10 minutes into the move. I might add that I work in the Art Industry and fully know how furniture should be moved from booking job after job. I was appalled. Next, when sitting in the car, I noticed one of the movers kick a light bulb off the truck and shatter into the street, right in front of where they were moving. We listed 30 boxes on the quote. Totally understood, as Stacy outlined, that the invoice pricing may go up if we go past the 30 boxes. At one point, Anthony said "you're already at 36 boxes". We totally understood and asked what the cost would be for the extra 4 large boxes. We asked if we should call you or if we discuss with him. He said he'd call it in. We left the apartment for 30 minutes to bring over some odds and ends to the new apartment. I phoned him and asked if he got a response and he said "don't worry, I won't call it in". To be clear - we made it VERY clear we were fine with the price going up, but just wanted to know a ballpark figure. After his call, I assumed fine since he said he'd take those boxes. Lastly, when returning from the new apartment, Anthony told us he was done and on his way to the new apartment. My partner's mother was stationed there to let them in, so that wasn't an issue. When we returned to the old apartment, many items on our quoted list were left behind. We made it VERY clear several times they should be taken and included in the move. This includes the microwave, 2 large boxes, the hamper, a shelf, and ALL four AC units. Now today, my partner and I had to rent a zip car to move those things our-self. Realizing all of this after spending over 9 hours to complete the move between 7:30am-4:30pm. In end, this has been a disaster. I did my research in getting quotes from several different movers, all comparable. I am disappointed as I read mixed reviews on your company, but appreciated that it was local and had some glowing reviews. My experience was less than satisfactory. In end, it's cost us both time and money. We regret our decision wholly to have used the company. I've moved twice in New York City using a company in the city, with the same exact amount of furniture, in less than 3 hours.
