Universal Parking (Currently Closed)

I unfortunately keep my car in this lot because of it's convenient location, however I am finally thinking of making the switch. The parking attendants who work here are EXTREMELY rude and border on aggressive. I've had several bad experiences with them where they've actually yelled at me and go ...Moretten in my face for their mistakes (forgetting to bring my car down when I called in advanced, bringing down the wrong car, etc). The lot is small, the service is awful, and my bumper has become increasingly scratched and dinged since I started parking there, something the attendants refuse to take responsibility for. I would never recommend this service to anyone.

I've been parking at Universal Parking for as long as it's around. The lot is spotless, heated in the winter, and manned with very friendly, helpful parking attendants. The manager, Wilson, is one of the sweetest people I know. I've used the other local lots and this is my favorite.

Convenient location, being clean inside, and having friendly enough employees aren't enough to save this place from their scam prices. It was a Sunday and I do try to park in the street if I can help it, but driving around Manhattan can be a pain and after a while I was looking for the mercy of ...More one of these garages. I wasn't going to be in the area long, but I figured paying $30 or so wasn't going to be terrible and it would be the cost of my sanity not driving the streets. The first attendant was a little strange, but friendly enough. He asked how long I'd be around and I said maybe 3 hours. He gave me the stub and off I was. When I returned about 2 and a half hours later, I was waiting for maybe 15 minutes for an attendant - any attendant - to come around since no one was to be found the the office was locked. After a while he finally came and decided to service the people who just pulled in instead of me, the guy just standing there for now 20 mins looking to just get his car back. He finally got to me, though he wasn't rude. The price in the front said "up to 1/2 hour $8.45 + tax" - so I estimated about $45 (including tax), but I guess they decided to charge me for the time spent waiting for an actual attendant as well (which is not my fault), which added another half hour to my charge along with their apparent 15% tax made the charge $58 total - for 2 and a half hours. I didn't want to argue as I had a long day to begin with and just had to mentally tell myself I gave money to a charity. So lesson learned - next time I'll just use the parking app, drive around and keep looking, or take the Metro North to get into the city - anything rather than coming here and getting scammed. Never again.

There was a long line to drop off my car, and the guy who checked me in was a bit rude. The evening price is expensive compared to other nearby places which have night specials. But my car was returned to me unscratched and I got what I paid for. The guy who gave me back my car was better at cus ...Moretomer service than the first guy.
