My experience with Golden Bear Storage was great. If I could give this place 4.5 stars I would, because the only reason it doesn't have 5 is that it isn't 24-hour access, or even longer access. Maybe I just keep long hours? :) The manager, Leigh, is awesome, straightforward, and helpful. The ...Morefacility is large, with a wide variety of storage sizes. I was able to get a great student 3-month package deal complete with free lock (ask for specials?). The freight elevators and hand carts are convenient, and the business is fairly green because the units are made out of old freight shipping crates. I'd definitely do business here again!

I could not recommend this storage facility to friends or family. The quality of service was inconsistent. For the money, there are other options.

The one thing I can say that is very positive about Golden Bear Storage is that it is cheap. I don't think you will find a cheaper storage vendor in the east bay. So if you want cheap, go to Golden Bear. Oh, and none of my stuff has ever been stolen. I put my stuff into this unit when I became ...More homeless and the woman at the front desk gave me a hard time about how often I accessed my unit. She also denigrated homeless people. One day she came right out and said, "Are you homeless? We don't want homeless squatters here." i have had my stuff in this storage for over four years - even after I was "re-housed" I kept my stuff in the storage unit. Here is what I have observed: there is always someone new at the front desk, always a different answer to questions. the gal they have there now is very giggly -- she must think that the prospect of loosing all one's possessions is a very funny thing indeed! I asked her to give me the name of the man in charge and she said, "I don't think I can do that."

We started out there about a year ago, before they changed management, and were very very happy with the service and the facilities, even with their limited access hours. We liked the people. Then they changed everything. It has, from a people point of view, and upper management point of view ...More, gone down hill from there.We are now finally out of there, moving to ExtraStorage on Cedar St below 2nd., and they're still trying to charge our bank card. So today we called asking about that. The manager yelled at us such that my roommates could hear her yelling over the phone from across the room. The storage is good, the hours are limited, and the management sucks.

Definitely agree with the previous reviewer - the management shift made this place just kind of creepy. We were glad to get our stuff out!
