Warning! you will rent your space under a "promotional" deal and then they will subsequently jack up up your rates. I was originally paying $123/mth and received and email notice of payment every month. In less than a year they raised to $147 and then after 8 months raised to $176. They want ...More you get your stuff in in their facility and then take advantage of the time and expense to move again. They claimed to have "mailed" notice of a rate increase however we don't recall receiving any such notice. When asked if they also emailed notice of a rate increase, of course the answer was no. Plan on this storage company costing at least 50% more than you expect.
Initially I was impressed with the price and the staff. However I received notice of a rate increase.This is my second rate increase in a few months. That's taking advantage of people. Who wants to keep moving their stuff and that's what they're banking on. Disgraceful tactics .
So the business owner responded to my review on Yelp about getting in touch with her, and I've tried SEVERAL times to no avail. Not surprised. I call the number she provided, and all I get is info re my account such as last payment made and when the next payment is due, but no way to speak to ...Morean earthling. Then I tried emailing customer "support" LOL but I have yet to hear from her. I keep getting random people calliing themselves "customer service" writing back asking the same question "Thank you for reaching out. I am happy to get you in contact with the district management team. I will need to find your account first in order to do so. Can I please have the phone number associated with your account? customer service." I have answered this question FOUR times and zip from them or the owner. I've even replied asking if I'm being punked!! Complete FAIL for customer service! I've since found a different place close by that is cheaper so I'll be getting TFO out that craphole soon. If you want your rates to go up every six months, then definitely go with extra space storage. *Yelp - add a zero star rating, please and thank you!
These guys at Extra Storage Space are similar to bandits. Like the ones who sailed looking for treasures at the time of the Captain Drake in 16th century. We signed at Davie for a 6x12 unit and they of course never told me how often they could increase pricing. One does not look at the dozens of ...More pages of all contract but one cannot ever imagine that after 16 weeks they can increase the price over 50%. In my case I was lucky and it was only 20%. When I called the customer service a very polite lady told me that if we did not like the price we could leave the unit (clean) with one week notice. After I called the unit manager he told me (today) that he would check with central team and see what they could do. The argument of course is that they could rent my unit at over 50% the price I am paying. When I said that this 50% could have been noticed also 16 weeks ago, he said that prices went up very fast. All in all, I am expecting a solution and unless they keep the price I will have no choice but changing unit. We all must behave like consumers and believe in the power we have. These modern-age bandits feel free to do what they want because we do not react as consumers. I will keep you posted.
