I've moved 7 times, and my experience with Cross State Vanlines was by far the worst.
The original estimate to move my 2-bedroom townhouse (minus most furniture, which I sold) was about $4.5K which I honestly thought was a lot given that my things were all boxed up and we'll organized in the ga ...Morerage. They just needed to go into the house for two beds with no headboards and about 10 boxes.
The scam is that they ask you to estimate your boxes a week before your move and charge by boxes and weight. The industry best practice is to have someone skilled at this come to the house (or FaceTime) to do the estimate and then guarantee that quote. Instead they rely on you not realizing there are several last-minute boxes. Bedding alone took 6 boxes.
It was stressful because they said they would call 36 hours in advance to confirm the move, which they didn't do. I had to call several times before reaching them.
They waited until the morning of the move (a 400-mile move) to tell me they required cash or money order, half up front, half on delivery. I panicked and tried to explain I didn't have the cash. I expected to pay by credit card.
The move ended up costing more than $9K! Stay away from this company unless you want PTSD like I have now.

Don't use this company. We hired them in July of 2021 and now its December of 2021 and we don't have our items that we hired them to move. We paid them on July 7, 2021 and our items were supposed to be delivered about July 22, 2021 to South Carolina. We have called and emailed the company and ...More we don't get any response. Now we are out items that were family momentums, and we are out the money we paid. I have filed a complaint with the BBB, but I see they have several complaints there.
